Pedestrians in Spain can be arrested for drunk walking

Pedestrians in Spain will be subject to alcohol and drug tests if they disregard road rules, ThinkSpain reported. The new rule is part of road traffic law reform. Even if they haven\'t caused an accident, pedestrians walking down the middle of a street or stepping in front of a moving vehicle will be subject to a breathalyzer test to determine if they are under the influence, the newspaper reported Sunday. As part of the law, bicyclists less than 18 years of age must wear a helmet at all times. The legal alcohol limit of 0.25 milligrams per liter remains the same for drivers, but it drops to 0.15 milligrams per liter for new drivers and commercial drivers, ThinkSpain reported. The fines for drunk driving have also doubled from $664 to $1,328. The new law requires children 4-foot-6 to be in a child restraint system while riding in a vehicle. The law previously required restraints based on age, not height.
