Philippine president: Iran plays key role in region

The Islamic Republic of Iran plays significant role in the region, the Philippines President Benigno Aquino III said in a meeting with Iran\'s ambassador to his country. President Aquino made the remark while receiving credentials of Iran’s new Ambassador Ali-Asghar Mohammadi. He underlined the need for further boost in Tehran-Manila bilateral relations in all areas. Iran’s new envoy, for his part, praised the five-decade long diplomatic ties between the two countries and called for deepening bilateral cooperation. Mohammadi also hoped the two sides would witness new chapter in their relations. He then invited the Philippines president to visit Iran.
