The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) warned of an explosion in Israeli jails if health conditions of Palestinian prisoners continue to deteriorate, according to a statement published on Monday. The statement by the PLO secretary’s office said reports showed that health conditions of the prisoners, who are in their third week of hunger strike, have reached a critical point. It held the Israeli government responsible for the prisoners’ lives, especially the head of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Ahmad Sa’adat, who was admitted to Ramla prison hospital on Sunday following severe deterioration in his health condition. The PLO warned from full-scale explosion in Israeli jails because the Israeli prison administration refuses to improve conditions in jails, particularly ending years of solitary confinement for some prisoners. It urged the International Committee of the Red Cross to intervene with the Israeli government to force it to respond to prisoners’ demands and improve their living conditions.
