Post-conflict peacebuilding should be carried out on the basis of full respect of the sovereignty and will of the country concerned, a Chinese diplomat said here Monday. \"Countries in conflict bear the primary responsibility of peacebuilding in their own country,\" said Wang Min, China\'s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, at an open debate of the UN Security Council on post-conflict peacebuilding. \"The international community should respect the will of the country concerned in peacebuilding efforts, help them to strengthen national capacity building and increase their level of governance,\" said Wang. \"In doing so, a coordinated, integrated and target working method should be applied while taking into consideration of the different domestic conditions.\" Wang noted that peacebuilding should have clear priorities. The strategies of peacebuilding and comprehensive development should focus on stabilizing security, promoting political reconciliation, strengthening democracy and so on, he said. The Chinese diplomat also pointed out that resources should be most effectively used in peacebuilding efforts and he urged the relevant UN agencies and regional organizations to play their important roles.
