The Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has said that the UAE Cabinet's extraordinary retreat at Sir Bani Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, will mark the launching of a series of discussion on the development of the healthcare and education sectors. He added that the agenda of the first Cabinet retreat has been set. Discussions based on the results of the national brainstorming initiative will take place over the course of two days; the first day will examine ideas to develop the education sector, whereas the second day will tackle the issue of developing the health care sector. The suggestions and ideas have been classified by a panel of specialists into five broad categories: for the education sector, the first category focuses on teachers in terms of efficiency, competency and making the career attractive. The second category looks into developing teaching methods, integrating technology and applying best standards in this field. The third category sheds light on enhancing the skills of students on par with their peers in developed countries. The fourth category examines means to improve ratios of students who complete high school, university and postgraduate studies. And finally, the fifth category looks at aligning education outcomes with present and future requirements of the different sectors of the economy. The second day of the retreat will take a closer look at suggestions to develop the healthcare sector. The first category includes upgrading quality of the healthcare services for the public and private sector. The second category sheds light on raising the efficiency and competence of the healthcare staff and making the career attractive. The third category examines developing the specialised medical services across the country. The fourth category looks at suggestions to catalyse change into lifestyle patterns to improve general health, while the fifth category will tackle measures to limit the spread of diseases within society.
