President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi met on Tuesday US Senator John McCain who is currently visiting Yemen. During the meeting, they reviewed the steps taken to implement the GCC-brokered initiative. The President pointed out that the Yemeni people preferred wisdom and supreme national interests to end the problems through peaceful solutions. He also briefed the US Senator on the war against al-Qaeda militants in Abyan province, who had flowed from different countries, taking advantage of difficult circumstances and the division of the army and security forces. Regarding the US lifting of a ban on transfers of detainees to Yemen from the prison at Guantanamo Bay, President Hadi welcomed the decision, stressing that the Yemeni detainees will be rehabilitated and reintegrated into society. For his part, McCain expressed great appreciation for the special efforts made by President Hadi in exceptional circumstances. \"Yemen has taken typically a peaceful option. It was considered the best in the Middle East,\" the US Senator said, stressing his country’s support to President Hadi’s efforts.
