President Obama visits soldiers heading for Afghanistan

U.S. President Barack Obama Friday pledged to end the war in Afghanistan as “responsibly” as he did with Iraq, telling soldiers heading to the country that they still faced a “very tough fight.” Obama visited Fort Bliss in Texas, where he was meant to mark the second anniversary of the end of U.S. combat in Iraq. “I know that some of you will be deploying later this year,” the president said. “I’ve got to tell you the truth; this is still a very tough fight. “Just as in Iraq, we are going to end this war responsibly. Next year, Afghans will take the lead for their own security. In 2014, the transition will be complete,” Obama said.
