President of Turkmenistan Expects Promising Future with Qatar in All Fields

HE President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov affirmed that his visit to the State of Qatar and his meeting with HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will mark an important stage in the history of the two countries' relations and will contribute to the consolidation of friendship and brotherhood between the two peoples.
HE President of Turkmenistan is scheduled to arrive in Doha later in the day for an official visit to the country, where HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will hold talks with him at the Emiri Diwan related to bilateral relations and ways of developing them.
In an interview with (Al-Watan) newspaper issued Wednesday, Turkmenistan's President said that Qatar is a close friend and sister to Turkmenistan, noting to the cooperation between the two countries on foreign policy in the international fields.
He also stressed that the two countries' bilateral relations were built on a firm and clear basis, based on mutual respect, equal rights, support for peace and security and convergence of peoples on spiritual and moral values and objectives.
Turkmenistan's President said that his country supports Qatar's proposals aimed at raising the status of Islamic countries, increasing Islamic solidarity and securing sustainability and security in Asia and the Near East .
HE President of Turkmenistan further more said that there is a promising future for cooperation with Qatar in the field of transport, calling for a joint work with Qatari transport logistic companies in this area due to the completion of Turkmenbashi International Seaport on the coast of the Caspian Sea, confirming his country's interest to benefit from the experiences of Qatari companies that provide logistic transport services for the success of the accession of Turkmenbashi port, which provides 24-hour logistic services and connects the regions of the Black and Mediterranean seas with the Middle East countries and between the west, east, north and south lines.
He added that his country is currently implementing the Turkmen section of the gas pipeline linking Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India, expressing readiness to discuss Qatar's cooperation in this project on the basis of co-benefits, noting that chemical gas industry in Turkmenistan is being developed.
HE the President expressed desire to study what Qatar had reached in improving contemporary bank programs, expecting that relations between the two countries in the fields of banking and financial cooperation will witness a promising future.
President of Turkmenistan also expressed readiness to consider the participation of Qatari investors to invest in the development of the tourist zone on the Caspian Sea, as well as in the development projects and the construction of modern factories.
Moreover, he indicted that there is considerable scope for cooperation between the two countries entrepreneurs unions, and in this regard they are working for the success of the first meeting between businessmen in the two countries.
With respect to the relationship of cultural cooperation between the two countries, he said that his country seeks to intensify cultural and historical cooperation and comprehensive development, noting at the same time to the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of education and science, exchanging experiences between the two countries in the field of teaching and scientific activity, and establishing direct contacts between Qatari and Turkmen educational institutions because the State of Qatar has successful experience in this area.
He also pointed to the Turkmen cultural days held recently in Qatar, saying that it represents a good start and he will support such celebrations, expressing his country's readiness to welcome Qatari artists and intellectuals and hold folkloric exhibitions and festivals, as well as lectures on popular culture.
In the area of sports, President of Turkmenistan expressed hope that the Qatari-Turkmen conference to be held as soon as possible on joint cooperation in the field of sport, saying that this will provide an opportunity to exchange experiences in organizing and holding international sport events and discuss the preparation of athletes and experts to get fruitful sport results, adding that it is useful to establish close ties between the national Olympic committees of the two countries.
