President Rohani: Iran wants strait of Hormus of peace, friendship

President Hassan Rohani said Tuesday Iran wanted the strait of Hormuz to be \"a strait of peace and friendship.\" Rohani made the remarks while meeting visiting Omani Minister Responsible for Defense Affairs Bader bin Saud Al-Busaidi, saying Iran was attaching great importance to developing relations with neighboring countries, foremost Oman. He said friendship and relations with Oman were old, calling for the promotion of defense cooperation, official media reported. Rohani commended \"positive\" outcome of Sultan Qaboos of Oman\'s visit to Tehran on August 25. Al-Busaidi said the defense cooperation between Iran and Oman was \"positive and constructive. Meanwhile, Al-Busaidi and Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan signed a defense cooperation agreement at the end of their talks. The agreement will foster defense-related cooperation in fields of education, sport, culture, drug and human trafficking.
