His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Deputy of His Majesty the King, Crown Prince today met with a delegation of the UK parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee (FAC) at the Riffa Palace, in a meeting attended by Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa. In discussions with the FAC delegation, headed by chairman Richard Ottoway MP, His Royal Highness said that the modern history of Bahrain was being underlined by continued efforts to achieve higher levels of development in a joint effort between Bahrain’s leadership and citizens, aimed at yielding greater prosperity and growth. His Royal Highness said that Bahrain’s recent experiences had ensured a continued determination to strengthen Bahrain, focusing on dialogue and constructive communication to reach results built upon consensus, that serve not only the national interests, but enhance collaboration between all Bahrainis to meet shared goals. The Deputy of His Majesty the King, Crown Prince stressed the importance of these steps being taken with an overarching sense of national responsibility and commitment to the Bahraini identity, bringing the people of the country together. His Royal Highness went on to reinforce that the rejection of extremism and violence was a core element to overcoming challenges, whilst respecting the pluralistic nature of Bahrain’s society. His Royal Highness recalled the supportive role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and all GCC, which embodies the historic and strategic bonds between the kingdom and the GCC, that has brought together the leaderships and people of these countries in a lasting political, economic, social and cultural framework. On the implementation of the BICI report recommendations, His Royal Highness underlined the importance of achieving further progress and thereby fulfilling the commitment to not only maintaining rights, but also to pursuing greater achievements in the reform programme initiated by His Majesty the King for the benefit of all Bahrain’s peoples. His Royal Highness said it was important that parties from all sides were involved in this process and cooperated in achieving the joint action required. The supportive and responsible stance of the United Kingdom was commended during the meeting, as well as the continued and ongoing communication being conducted between the UK and Bahrain. For its part, the FAC delegation wished Bahrain success in achieving positive results that would deliver further progress, development and stability. It voiced its support for all efforts leading to this goal, noting that the communication of its members was in line with this purpose.
