Putin: Crisis in Syria should be resolved by diplomatic and political methods

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that resolving the crisis in Syria can only be done through diplomatic and political methods and by having all sides sit at the dialogue table, calling for all sides to exert joint efforts to achieve this goal. In a joint press conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron held on Sunday, Putin said that  Russia\'s viewpoints regarding the crisis in Syria differ from those of Britain\'s. Putin addressed Cameron on the issue of importing weapons, saying \"I believe that there are people in the Syrian opposition that not only murder people, but also eat their internal organs… do you want to support those people, and what does this policy have to do with human values?\" He pointed out that Russia provides weapons to the legitimate Syrian government according to international law and that Russia hasn\'t violated any laws, calling on Russia\'s partners to act in a similar manner. The Russian president said that there\'s a mutual desire and mission to find suitable conditions to resolve the crisis in Syria, agreeing with Cameron on the need to exert efforts quickly. Putin said that the Syrian issue should be discussed at the G8 summit, stressing that the idea of the Geneva conference isn\'t dead yet.
