Qatar expresses deep concern over incidents in Egypt

Jordan’s unemployment rate of 12.6% for the second quarter of 2013 was a slight drop compared with the first quarter of 2013, according to a survey conducted by the Department of Statistics (DoS ). The DoS survey said the unemployment rate was 10.2% among males while it was more than double that among females at 22.4%. The figures also revealed a 1% increase in the unemployment rate compared with the same quarter in 2012, when it was 11.6%. The results of the survey show that the unemployment rate is high among individuals who have a university bachelors degree and above. It is 17.2 % compared with individuals who have other educational qualifications. From the unemployed lot, 0.8% are illiterate and 40.2% had qualifications less than secondary school while the remaining 59% had secondary school certificate or higher qualification. The percentage of unemployed males holding bachelors degree or higher was 23.4% compared to 71.3 among females. The highest unemployment rate was in the age group of 15 to 19 years and 20 to 24 years at 30.1% and 29.1% respectively, the DoS said.
