
Under the auspices of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani inaugurated today the World Social Security Forum which will continue until November 15. In an inaugural speech HE the Prime Minister confirmed Qatar keenness that social development should be the second pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030 which aims to provide decent living for citizens generation after generation. HE the Prime Minister said while efforts are ongoing for attaining decent living for citizens at present and in future, sustainable development challenges facing social security systems stumble such efforts, adding the State of Qatar has been exerting continued efforts to improve social security systems and to develop the institutions concerned with the implementing such systems through many political, legislative, strategic and organizational procedures which all aim to enhance the trust of citizens in the State’s performance and to underline the importance of decent living to them and to the generations to come. Challenges of the sustainable development of social security systems pose an obstacle to the attainment of social development and the provision of decent living to citizens at present and future, HE the Prime Minister said, adding that the great prosperity and exceptional economic growth in Qatar, have resulted in a steady increase in the standard of living. The biggest challenge facing social security systems allover the world is how to guarantee its sustainability and to maintain its munificence, with its effect not only confined to social, economic and human development plans and its targeted improvement of the standard of living, income increase and improvement of community services, but also extending to the individuals’ humanitarian and cultural values.
