Qatari ruler to hand over power to son

Emir of Qatar, Hamad bin Khalifa al- Thani, will address the nation on Tuesday morning to announce his decision of transferring power to his son, the pan-Arab Al-Jazeera TV reported Monday, quoting the Qatari royal court. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, who is set to receive power, has been the heir apparent since 2003. The royal court meanwhile said Tuesday will be a national holiday, the report said.
