Rasmussen: Solution in Syria should be political

The NATO Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, reiterated that the NATO has no plans for military intervention to resolve the crisis in Syria, saying the solution to the crisis in Syria should be a political one. In a video conference in Brussels on Wednesday, Rasmussen stressed that the NATO does not have plans for militarily intervention in Syria, voicing belief that a political solution is needed and that everybody should send signals that the solution in Syria should be political only. He said that there's a clear difference between Syria in Libya, as in Libya the NATO carried out operations based on UN authorization to "protect Libyan citizens from attacks by their government" and had active support from countries in the region, while none of these conditions apply in Syria as there's no UN authorization or call for the NATO to intervene in Syria.
