Renowned international expert warns Israel against attacking Iran

An expert in Israeli affairs has ruled out prospects of a military operation by Tel Aviv against Iran due to complex regional geopolitical conditions related to repercussions of the Arab Spring. Yossi Meckelberg, an advisor at the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), cautioned in a statement to KUNA that Israel would make \"the biggest blunder in its history\" if it takes that approach and carry on with plans to strike Iran militarily. Such an operation will drag the whole Middle East into a dangerous conflict, consequences of which cannot be predicted, Meckelberg warned, pointing out that Iran would not be an easy target considering its power, immense geographic size and significant history. Elaborating, he expressed his belief that Israel, in case its proceeded with such a plan, would not be able to destroy all of Iran\'s nuclear facilities because Tehran had established them at various locations. Such an operation may push phase of the Iranian nuclear development process two to three years back, nevertheless this file would require a more sagacious diplomatic approach. The renowned expert criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for raising the ceiling of his rhetoric too high to the point he would find it difficult to cool off the campaign against Tehran, if he opted so in the future. He called for giving more chances to Iran for further dialogue regarding such issues and cautioned that Israeli must take into consideration new realities on the Middle East arena, following the Arab Spring events, noting that its borders with Syria may not be as secured as they were during era of the Assad family, in the future. The future for the Middle East appears very much blurred to the extent that forecasting an Israeli attack on Iran is very much ruled out.
