Right-wing demonstrators have marched through central Berlin chanting "Merkel must go!" and "We are the people!" ABC News reported on Saturday.
The demonstrators, who appeared to be about 2,000 strong and carried German and other flags, were accompanied Saturday by a heavy police escort. Officers were keen to keep them away from counter-protesters.
Germany registered nearly 1.1 million people as asylum-seekers last year and Chancellor Angela Merkel insisted that "we will manage" the challenge of integrating them.
Still, a vocal minority has staged protests against her migrant policy and there has been a sharp rise in the number of attacks on refugee housing in Germany.
