Russia, Jordan to support holding international conference on Syria

Russia and Jordan called here on Friday all parties concerned to support efforts aiming to hold an international conference on Syria. During their official discussions, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov exchanged opinions with his Jordanian counterpart Nasser Judeh on developments in the Middle East, North Africa, and Syria in particular, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted in a statement. The two sides affirmed necessity to stop the bloodshed in that country and conduct negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition groups that show willingness for a political settlement to the crisis in Syria, expressing deep concern over the difficult human conditions resulting from the displacement of Syrian refugees to Jordan, the statement added. It said that addressing the Syrian refugees issue is directly linked with normalization of the situation and political settlement in Syria. Also, the two sides discussed developments of Palestinian-Israeli settlement, urging for creation of appropriate circumstances in order to resume negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis. Judeh\'s visit to Moscow came in the context of international and regional movement aimed at finding a political resolution for the Syrian crisis, and preventing occurrence of regional repercussions of the conflict in that country.
