
Defense ministers of the Russia-NATO Council are expected to meet in Brussels on October 22-23 on the sidelines of the NATO summit, a NATO official told Itar-Tass. Russia will be represented by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Both parties said they were completing to coordinate the details of the upcoming meeting, the NATO source said. The previous meeting with the participation of Russian ex-minister Anatoly Serdyukov was held in June 2011. The pause was linked to the Russian-NATO disagreements on missile defense. The NATO headquarters considers Shoigu’s involvement in the meeting the unique opportunity to give an impetus to military relations between Russia and NATO in the field of security.
