Russia refuses to comment where Snowden got his migration registration

The Russian Federal Migration Service (FMS) has refused to comment where Edward Snowden, the former employee of the United States National Security Agency, has obtained his migration registration. “No comment. This is strictly confidential,” FMS Chief Konstantin Romodanovsky told Itar-Tass on Friday. Snowden, who disclosed information on the U.S. secret surveillance programs, had stayed at the Moscow Sheremetyevo’s airport transit zone until July 23. He had arrived there from Hong Kong. The young man asked for temporary asylum in Russia because he feared for his security if he returned home. Snowden’s lawyer Anatoly Kucherena said on August 1 that his client had received a year-long temporary asylum certificate. However, Kucherena did not clarify where Snowden had gone when he left the airport’s transit zone. “I cannot say where Snowden is,” Kucherena said.
