Spokeswoman for Russia's Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday that the withdrawal of the main part of Russia's armed forces in Syria would not weaken Syrian President Bashar Al Assad, Interfax reported.
Russia didn't support anyone in Syria but it helped the Syrian army to strengthen its position against terror groups, Zakharova added.
The Russian air force operations contributed to resuming the Syrian peace talks, she underlined.
On Monday, Putin ordered the withdrawal of the main part of the country’s air and naval forces in Syria as they were deemed to have fulfilled the tasks assigned to them.
