The shortcomings in human rights in the United States have turned into the system, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Thursday. Commenting on the U.S. State Department’s statement on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Natalya Estemirova and Paul Klebnikov, the ministry said, “We riveted attention to the U.S. State Department’s spokesperson who spoke on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Natalya Estemirova and Paul Klebnikov. The pretensions to Russia have repeated every year, but they cannot be considered objective.” “We reiterated that Washington’s attempts to play the role of an arbitrator related to human rights all round the world are groundless, particularly due to the unfavourable human rights situation in the United States itself,” the Russian ministry said. Russia recommends American partners “to focus on studying and correcting their own shortcomings, which have turned into systematic ones, instead of give a subjective assessment and advise the others”, the ministry said.
