Russian lawmaker doubts Great Britain will adopt \'Magnitsky list\' of its own

Head of the committee for international affairs under the State Duma lower house of the Russian parliament Alexei Pushkov doubts that Great Britain will pass a separate law on sanctions in connection with Sergei Magnitsky case. Commenting to Itar-Tass the reports on London\'s introducing visa restrictions under \"Magnitsky bill,\" the lawmaker said that according to his information, the British government had not adopted any new blacklists. At one time, London assured Moscow that there was no such list and its position has not changed since. British visa restrictions apply equally to citizens or any states, and are not aimed specifically against Russia, the lawmaker said. \"Such practice makes the adoption of a separate law unlikely, because Britain regards human rights violation as a sufficient reason to deny a visa, and no dedicated legislation is required,\" Pushkov said.
