The three candidates for the South Korean presidency appeared together Saturday for the first time since they began their campaigns. The occasion was a marathon political showcase sponsored by a science and technology organization, Yonhap News Agency reported. It was held at the World Cup Stadium in Seoul. Rep. Park Geun-hye of the governing Saenuri Party, Rep. Moon Jae-in of the opposition Democratic United Party and Ahn Cheol-soo, an independent, exchanged greetings during a photo-op. Separately, each of the three tried to appear the best to further nurture the country's high-tech sector. With the election two months away, polls show Park, daughter of President Park Chung-hee, would be the winner in a three-person race, while either Moon or Ahn, founder of a major software company, would have a shot in a two-person matchup against her. Pundits expect one of the two men to withdraw in favor of the other, but there have been no hints yet of when or how that would take place.
