Majuro - Arabstoday

Two sailors survived for more than a month adrift in the Pacific before reaching an isolated atoll in the southern Marshall Islands, officials said on Friday. The men, from neighbouring Kiribati, were in \"reasonable\" condition after their ordeal, Marshall Islands Sea Patrol advisor Lieutenant Commander George McKenzie said.    McKenzie said the pair, aged 53 and 26, went missing from Kiribati on Oct.22 and washed ashore 33 days later on Thursday at Nimdrik, about 500 kilometres from their homeland. \"The boat had been reported missing and at the time a three-day air and sea search was undertaken, controlled by US Coast Guard in Honolulu, in coordination with officials in Kiribati,\" he said. Further details on how the men, who have not been named, became lost and how they survived were not immediately available. McKenzie said arrangements were being made to take the men to the Marshall Island\'s capital Majuro and then home to Kiribati.
