Saleh immunity draws fury

Gunmen killed in Yemen’s capital on Thursday at least five people protesting against a deal that grants immunity to President Ali Abdullah Saleh after he resigns. At least 45 were injured. Saleh, who signed the deal a day earlier, ordered a probe into the killings. Thousands took to the streets again on Thursday Sanaa, the central city of Taiz and elsewhere, calling for Saleh to be tried for charges of corruption and for the killing of protesters during the uprising. They chanted “No immunity for the killer” and vowed to continue their protests. “We were marching on Zubayr street demanding Saleh and his followers be tried when we were attacked by armed men in civilian clothes who opened fire on us directly,” a protester who identified himself as Nael told Reuters.
