Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has conducted a phone call with his Turkish counterpart Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu over the Turkish fighter jet downed on Syrian territorial water, to achieve peace and calm in the region. According to Iranian news agency (Fars), the call immediately followed the incident where the jet fell in Syrian waters. Salehi expressed hopes in maintaining calm and exercising restraint while peacefully resolving the issue. Syria\'s news agency (SANA) had reported a military spokesman\'s words on the event : \"An unidentified aerial target violated Syrian airspace, coming from the west at a very low altitude and at high speed over territorial waters, so the Syrian anti-air defenses counteracted with anti-aircraft artillery, hitting it directly causing it to crash into Syrian territorial waters in Lattakia province.\" The spokesman added that the target turned out to be a Turkish military plane that entered Syrian airspace and was dealt with according to laws observed in such cases.
