The Saudi Council of Senior Scholars has accused Iran of trying to disrupt Haj, going against the teachings of Islam.
In a statement on Tuesday, the council said Allah rewards those who respect the sanctity of the holy pilgrimage, as it was performed by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
It urged Muslims to avoid behavior that could cause "chaos" during Haj and said the Kingdom has a long history of serving the two holy mosques and not allowing anyone to threaten the safety of pilgrims.
