Second suspect arrested in World War II veteran\'s death

The second suspect sought in the Spokane, Wash., killing of a World War II veteran was arrested Monday, police said. Kenan Adams-Kinard, 16, was found in a basement apartment early Monday morning and arrested without incident on a warrant for first-degree murder and first-degree robbery, Spokane police said. He and Demetrius Glenn, 16, who was arrested Thursday, are suspected of beating Delbert Belton, 88, to death. Police Chief Frank Straub said the suspects were attempting a robbery and it appears the crime had no connection to race or gang. Belton was beaten with a flashlight last week while sitting in his car outside a Fraternal Order of Eagles building. The Spokane County Medical Examiner\'s Office confirmed that Belton died of blunt facial and head injuries. KREM-TV, Spokane, reported Glenn has a lengthy criminal history, and has been convicted of assault and riot. He is scheduled to be in court on another charge Aug. 28. Court documents revealed Belton was found at the scene of the assault between the front seats of his car. Detectives said a broken flashlight was recovered from the vehicle.
