Scuffles broke out in Ramallah on Wednesday as pro and anti Assad demonstrators clashed in the city center. Pro-Assad supporters had organized a protest which was confronted by a group of anti-Assad demonstrators, a Ma'an correspondent said. Police intervened to break up the clash and detained three people. Thaer al-Shamali, Ibrahim al-Rae and Walid Daraghmah were named by protest organizers as those detained. Pro-Assad demonstrators waved banners condemning the call for foreign intervention and criticizing media incitement. At least 6,000 people have been killed since the uprising began in March 2011. Eighty people were killed on Wednesday alone, including two foreign journalists.
