China attaches great importance to the bilateral ties with Malaysia and is willing to work together to deepen ties and cooperation between the two countries, an senior Chinese official said here Monday. Sun Chunlan, a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), conveyed greeting from Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang when she called on Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak. Sun, who is also the head of CPC committee of northern coastal city of Tianjin, said the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Malaysia, which was established by Xi and Najib during Xi's successful visit to Malaysia in October, has opened up a new era for the bilateral relations. Sun also briefed Najib on the third plenary session of the 18th CPC central committee earlier this month. The plenary session unequivocally decided on the guiding thoughts, missions and major principles for comprehensively deepening reform, while making significant breakthrough in theories and policies, Sun said. Comprehensively deepening reform will not only bring strong incentives for the future development of China, but also provide Malaysia and other countries with more opportunities, she added. Najib, who is also the president of Malaysia's ruling United Malays National Organization (UMNO), hailed the successful third plenary session of the 18th CPC central committee. Najib said the bilateral relations between Malaysia and China have achieved comprehensive development by leaps and bounds since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1974, and the increased exchange and cooperation between UMNO and CPC have greatly contributed to the overall relations between the two countries. Najib said he hoped to further develop country-to-country and party-to-party ties and pragmatic cooperation in all areas in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic ties in 2014.
