The committee in charge of following up on the implementation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s proposal to set up an Arab Human Rights Tribunal held today its second meeting at the Foreign Ministry’s General Court under the chairmanship of Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Regional and GCC Affairs Hamad bin Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Amer. Representatives of the Social Development Ministry, the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry, the Constitutional Court, the Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission and the National Institution for Human Rights took part in the meeting. The Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Regional and GCC Affairs hailed the outcome of the ministerial work team’s meetings, stressing the importance of follow-up and coordination with the Arab League’s Secretariat General regarding the implementation of the decision taken on March 10, 2012 which welcomed Bahrain’s initiative to host a conference to study the establishment of the Arab Human Rights Tribunal. Mr. Al Amer reiterated the importance accorded by Bahrain to the royal initiative as it represents an added value to the efforts to boost human rights.
