
Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport, Deputy President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Award for Scientific Research in the field of sport Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa has lauded the outstanding success of the first edition of the award and its positive results which will link science to sport and reflect positively on the output of Bahraini sport.He credited His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the success of the award, noting that the Royal support to the youth and sport movement in the kingdom has yielded landmark results.In this regard, he recalled HM the King's sound directives to focus on sport-related sciences, given their effective role in boosting Bahraini sport and consolidating its achievements and position.Shaikh Salman hailed the support of the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to the award and constant follow-up of all its phases, noting that his keenness to encourage researchers in the sports field reflects his far-sighted vision on ways to push the sport movement forward on scientific bases to ensure sustainable sports development. He added that following Shaikh Nasser's directives, the Board of Trustees decided that the award will include the Arab world as from the second edition, explaining that new awards will be allocated, including a youth sports researcher prize, two performance awards for local public and private sports institutions, and another for highly-qualified Arab scientific researchers in the sport field with distinguished production.He said that the Board of Trustees' initiative to give the award and Arab dimension would encourage sports bodies in Bahrain and Arab countries to promote scientific research as the best way to upgrade the youth and sports movement.
