Cairo - Emirates Voice

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has said that Egypt managed to restore balance with international partners after the June 30 revolution.
Addressing the foreign relations, defense and national security committees of the House of Representatives, the foreign minister pointed out to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visits to many countries to bring Egypt's role back on track.
He said the Gulf states, especially Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain stood by Egypt in the face of challenges.
The foreign minister called on the House MPs and committees to take part effectively in the state institutions, praising the role of the press in raising awareness among citizens.
Shoukry said that the Foreign Ministry's policy is based on bases and principles, expressing sadness over the painful incidents against some Egyptians abroad recently and said the Ministry was following up the conditions of expats out of its responsibility.
The foreign minister called for transparency in the probes into the killing of Egyptians abroad, saying such probes are given attention by the countries in which the killing incidents took place.
Some linked these incident to the killing of Italian PhD student Giulio Regeni but the incidents must be separated from the Italian student's case and tackled with transparency and credibility, said the minister.
He said the rumors on the death of the Italian student made the Italian officials and people worry, expressing happiness over the outcome of the conference held by the assistant prosecutor general on the outcome of investigations into the killing and Egypt's efforts to reach the truth and find the killer.
On Egypt's chairmanship of the Security Council in May, the foreign minister said he will preside over the council meetings at the ministerial levels to highlight the role of Egypt in combating terrorism.
He said that Egypt will seek through the ٍٍSecurity Council to focus on the ideologies of the terrorist groups, pointing out that the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood reached power through a democratic system but it turned against it.
He said the Armed Forces has been shouldering a major responsibility to prevent the smuggling of arms from neighboring countries especially Libya.

Concerning the Syrian crisis, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said Egypt took supportive decisions for the Syrian people.
The Syrian people are an integral part of the Arab national security, Shoukry said, adding it was difficult to see this amount of terrorist groups and foreign militants there, while more than half of the Syrians have been displaced, more than 500,000 killed, along with thousands who risked their lives in taking hazardous voyage through the Mediterranean Sea to reach Europe.
The Egyptian top diplomat reiterated that the Egyptian role supported encouraging the political process in Syria, citing the UNSC resolution to cease the hostilities there.
Shoukry said Egypt's active diplomacy could influence the international decision making.
