
Singapore said on Tuesday that it was shocked by the truck attack at a market in the German capital of Berlin which left 12 people dead.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said in a statement that Singapore is shocked by what appeared to be a vicious attack at the Breitscheidplatz Christmas market in Berlin on Monday that killed and injured many people.
MFA expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the attack, and wish the injured a speedy recovery.
The ministry said Singapore stands in solidarity with the people of Germany during this period of grief.
It said the Singapore Embassy in Berlin has been contacting registered Singaporeans in Berlin. The Embassy is also in close contact with the local German authorities to ascertain whether there are any Singaporeans affected by the incident.
There were no reports of any Singaporeans directly affected or injured by the incident, added the MFA.
A truck ploughed into the Christmas market crowd in the heart of Berlin on Monday, killing 12 people and injuring 48.
