Siniora congratulates newly elected Mursi

Head of the Future Movement Parliamentary bloc MP Fouad Siniora congratulated Wednesday Egyptian president-elect Mohammad Mursi, who was officially announced as Egypt’s president last Sunday. “Electing you as the first president in the era of the second Egyptian Republic is a huge development not only in Egypt but in the Arab nation and the Muslim nation,” said Siniora in his message to Mursi. Siniora also expressed the hope that Egypt would reprise the central role it used to play in the Arab world’s affairs. He added that the absence of this role in recent decades led to an imbalance of power at the regional level. Siniora, who extended felicitations on his parliamentary bloc’s behalf, praised the values of the Egyptian revolution, particularly freedom, democracy and the peaceful rotation of power.
