Sisi asserts importance of maintaining national State, fighting suicide

Visiting Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday underlined the importance of protecting the national State and enhancing international cooperation for fighting terrorism and extremism.

The remark was made in a lecture the president gave in the Portuguese military academy with several Portuguese military commanders, including the defense minister, attending.

He asserted that efforts for fighting terrorism should not stop at the armed force only. Rather, these efforts should also address root causes that lead to terrorism and extremism, he added. 
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi added in his lecture that Egypt has exerted strenuous efforts for fighting terrorism which is seeking to hamper the development process in the country.

He added that terrorist groups are using wrong religious concepts to justify their terrorist operations.

The religious institutions in Egypt are taking serious steps towards standing up to warped religious thought through renewing the religious discourse and fighting religious recruitment and polarization, added president Sisi.

President Sisi voiced apprehension that international approach on fighting terrorism is inadequate at a time international efforts are unable to protect societies against terrorism which is now spreading and has started crossing geographical borders. 
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi added in his lecture that all world countries should fully understand the reasons behind terrorism.

He asserted that all terrorist groups are adopting the same fascist approach to impose their vision on the societies.

"The method of the terrorist groups in our societies is based on exclusion and rejection of the other while holding the whole society as infidels", said the president, adding that this approach contradicts completely with Islam and its moderate laws and teachings.

Islam, explained the president, welcomes the other and allows for difference with the other.

The president confirmed that fighting terrorism through security means alone is not viable as extremist ideologies should be confronted through intellectual debate with extremist organizations.

Egypt and its people and institutions have suffered too much for fighting terrorism, said the president, adding that Egypt is engaged in a fierce battle against terrorism for maintaining its security and protecting the potentials of the peoples of the region.

Egypt is fully aware of the immense responsibility over its shoulders at this critical juncture of the history of the Middle East, said president Sisi, adding that Egypt is exerting all efforts for protecting the national State.
