South Korea and China have agreed to make all-out diplomatic efforts for progress on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. South Korea's chief presidential national security adviser, Kim Jang-soo, and China's state councilor in charge of foreign affairs, Yang Jiechi, reached the agreement in Seoul on Monday. The two held extensive talks at the presidential office on their countries' policies on foreign affairs and defense, according to Korea's (KBS WORLD) website. The presidential office said the two officials reaffirmed their joint stance to make the Korean Peninsula nuclear-free and to not tolerate North Korea's nuclear ambitions. Such views were agreed to by South Korea's President Park Geun-Hye and Chinese President Xi Jinping during a June summit in Beijing. The presidential office said Kim explained to Yang Seoul's policy to build trust on the Korean Peninsula and President Park Geun-hye's Northeast Asian Peace and Cooperation Initiative. Yang said China will continue to support those polices. The two officials also agreed on the need to promote a dialogue system under which they will be able to hold contacts.
