South Korea and Morocco have agreed to tighten collaboration in cultural sectors that include education, sports and youth exchanges as they seek closer bilateral diplomatic ties, Seoul's foreign ministry said Tuesday.
In the sixth meeting of the bilateral joint cultural committee held a day earlier at the Moroccan foreign ministry, the countries reached the agreement under a shared understanding that exchanges between the two culturally rich nations would be mutually beneficial, South Korean news agency (Yonhap) reported.
During the meeting, Choi Young-sam, director for cultural diplomacy at the South Korean ministry, and his counterpart Lamia Radi also adopted an action plan on the agreement to be effective from 2016-2020, the ministry said. "Both sides agreed that youth exchanges and cooperation in education are vital for the long-term and sustained development of friendly and cooperative ties between their countries," the foreign ministry noted.
Following a pact on cultural exchanges signed in 1977, the two countries held the inaugural meeting of the joint cultural committee in 1993.
