South Korea's President Park Geun-hye has instructed the nation's military to increase its alert level against North Korean threats.
Senior Presidential Secretary for Public Relations Kim Sung-woo told reporters on Thursday that Park made the order to ensure the safety of the South Korean public, according to Korea's (KBS WORLD) radio.
Park was also cited as calling for a proactive response to the North's reckless provocations. She also asked the South Korean public to exercise caution to deal with possible emergency situations.
In the wake of the North's recent threats to launch attacks on the South Korean presidential office on Wednesday, the senior secretary said that the North is directly challenging South Korea, its president and the international community.
