Las Vegas gambling mogul Sheldon Adelson said he would delay the start of construction of a resort in Spain until smoking restrictions are lifted. Adelson and his company, Las Vegas Sands, plan to build a Vegas-style casino complex in Madrid but he said construction on the project will not begin until President Mariano Rajoy amends the law to allow smoking inside the new property. Health Minister Ana Mato has opposed changing the law to accommodate the massive Eurovegas project and has the backing of Spanish healthcare professionals. ThinkSpain said the government has conceded to previous demands made by Adelson to keep the project on track -- including tax breaks and allowing minors on the casino floor, if accompanied by their parents.
