Moscow - SANA

Iranian Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Arab and African Affairs, Hossein Amir Abdullahian, said that the strategic relations between Syria and Iran cannot be changed by the change of Iranian government or President. \"Our relationship with Syria is strategic; therefore, the change of the government or presidents in Iran won\'t change in any way our strategic view towards Syria,\" he Abdullahian told a press conference in Moscow. He said that Iran supports the political settlement to the crisis in Syria, adding that Tehran supports both the Syrian people and the Syrian opposition which believes in the political means as the way to solve the crisis. He stressed that Iran considers itself as an important part of settling the crisis in Syria, adding, \"regardless of the conflicting information on Iran\'s participation in the international conference on Syria, Iran was and will remain an important part of the settlement process.\" Abdullahian expressed confidence that Syria has the capability to defy  any foreign aggression and it is able to protect its territorial integrity in case of military intervention. He condemned the twin blasts which hit al-Marjeh district in Damascus, stressing that such acts stir up resentment and disgust not only to the Syrian people but also to the international community at large. He said that the Europeans and the Americans are supporting the terrorist acts in Syria and some regional countries are supporting the terrorists with money and weapons. Abdullahian stressed that the situation is now turning in favor of the Syrian leadership and people while the so-called \"opposition\" have been wreaking havoc during the past two and a half years. In an interview with SANA correspondent in Moscow, the Iranian official said, \"We hope that the countries which desire to bring welfare for the Syrian people would participate in the international conference, in addition to the participation of the neighboring and other regional countries.\" Iranian Ambassador in Damascus: Iran Rejects Foreign Interference in Syria Meanwhile, Iran\'s Ambassador in Damascus, Mohammad Reza Raouf Shibani, stressed his country\'s rejection of any foreign interference in Syria and any militarization of the crisis, highlighting the necessity of political solution with the participation of all active political sides. In a statement to the Iranian news agency (IRNA), Shibani said that Iran strongly opposes the interference of countries and sending weapons and money to the armed terrorist groups in Syria with the aim of militarizing the crisis. Salehi Hopes International Community will Help Restoring Stability in Syria In another context, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi hoped that the international community will help restoring calm and stability to Syria. \"We hope that the international community will follow its wise means to restore calm and stability to Syria,\" Salehi said during a meeting with Australian new Ambassador in Tehran. Salehi pointed out to the events taking place in Syria and the critical situation in the region due to the terrorist and extremist operations. Araqchi: International Conference on Syria Should Find Political Solution to End Crisis Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Abbas Araqchi, stressed that the success of the international conference on Syria in Geneva is linked to \"being comprehensive\". \"Iran\'s invitation to attend the conference is a right step,\" Araqchi said in a press conference on Tuesday. He expressed his country\'s hope that the conference aims at reaching a political solution to solve the crisis in Syria and finding an appropriate ground for dialogue between the Syrian government and the opposition.
