Sudanese Defence Minister Lt.Gen. Abdel Rahim Mohammed Hussein has praised the Qatar-Sudan ties as "fraternal and distinguished." In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) the Sudanese Minister also commended Qatar continuous support to Sudan and its keenness on its security and stability. In this context, the Sudanese official said that HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani visited Sudan a few days ago to attend the opening of the highway between Eritrea and Sudan as one of HH the Emir''s achievements .. He added: "We in Sudan, highly and deeply appreciate the role of Qatar, its Emir and its leadership. He also lauded the great efforts made Qatar for the successful Darfur peace talks. The Sudanese Defence Minister said that his current visit to Qatar is at the invitation of HE Chief of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah, within the context of the developing brotherly ties between the two countries.
