Sweden's border controls will be extended by a period of three months from Saturday until February 11, 2017, the Swedish government said on Friday.
"It has been a difficult decision," said Interior Minister Anders Ygeman, adding that "commuters in the Oresund region have paid a rather high price for these controls", according to Swedish Television.
The Swedish government performed border controls at the Oresund Bridge and in the ports of Trelleborg, Malmo, Helsingborg and Gothenburg.
They were introduced last fall in connection with the refugee crisis and was last extended in June.
