Syria denies accusations of being involved in Beirut blast

Syrian Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi dismissed accusations that his country is behind the car bomb attack that killed Friday former finance minister Mohamed Chatah in Beirut, saying they are based on “political grudges". He added that some figures in Lebanon are used to blaming Syrian parties for any assassination in that country to cover their role in supporting terrorism. He accused in particular former prime minister Fouad Seniora.
