The NATO council of foreign ministers on Tuesday approved the deployment of Patriot missiles along Turkey\'s border with Syria as requested by Ankara, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said on Twitter. The deployment will be solely for defense purposes, and will not be used to enforce a no-fly zone, Rasmussen said. Holland, Germany and the US will supply the Patriots to Turkey following their respective national procedures. The missile deployment will have a \'\'solely\'\' defensive purpose, and \'\'under no circumstances will it sustain any offensive operation, nor be used to implement a no-fly zone,\'\' NATO made clear in a statement.
