A Syrian businessman managed to escape his kidnappers Friday after they snatched him from the northeast region of Hermel earlier in the week, security sources told The Daily Star. The man, 44-year-old Mustafa Turkmani, contacted his brother Youssef immediately after he escaped his abductors, the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said. Turkmani, a part owner of a ceramics company in Lebanon, was kidnapped Wednesday but the sources did not identify the location where he had been held. The man had a broken leg when he was found, the sources said. Turkmani’s car was found abandoned Thursday morning in the village of Telhamiyeh, some 500 meters away from the village of Faour where the Syrian was heading. Security forces will question Turkmani after he receives proper treatment for his injuries. From DailyStar
