The opposition Syrian National Coalition has addressed an urgent call upon the United Nations and affiliate agencies to help in creating safe corridors for civilians of Deraa and Homs. The coalition in a statement, released on Friday, called for international help to secure sufficient support for the opposition to defend civilians and urged the media \"to break the silence and foil the regime plots to perpetrate further genocides against the Syrian civilians.\" The regime forces, backed by Hezbollah militias, are currently waging the \"fiercest offensive on old sectors of the city of Homs,\" targeting these districts with fierce artillery bombardment and air raids. While the forces are trying to burst into these areas, residents are suffering from complete cut-off of communications, severe shortage of food and medical supplies. Missile and artillery attacks on Deraa have left a large number of civilians dead or wounded, it added. The National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces is a coalition of opposition groups in the Syrian civil war that was founded in Doha, Qatar, in November 2012.
