Syrian shepherds to be repatriated after illegally entering Lebanon

Five Syrian shepherds arrested early in the week after illegally entering a southern Lebanese town will be repatriated to their home country, security sources told The Daily Star Tuesday. Investigations with the five Syrians, three of whom are minors, showed that they entered Lebanon to herd their cattle in the vast fields of Kfar Shuba, south Lebanon, the sources said. The shepherds, who were arrested Monday, are being held at a police station in Rashaya al-Fokhar in Hasbaya, southeast Lebanon. The sources said that the authorities would ask the five shepherds to return to Syria given that they entered the country without the proper permission and have to legal reasons to remain.
