Tantawi to testify on saturday in the killing of protestors\' trial

Chief of the Supreme Council of Armed Forces Field Marshall Mohammed Hussein Tantawi said on Friday that he will be heading to court tomorrow to testify in the case of the murder of peaceful protestors. Egyptian Middle East News Agency reported today that Tantawi said \"Military men should appear in military courts only, it is unprecedented that a military leader appears in a civil court.\" The news agency reported that Tantawi decided to go and testify to stress on the value of the rule of law which Tantawi believes must the core value of the Egyptian state after the January 25th revolution. Another reason for the Field Marshall\'\'s decision was that this trial is of great importance. Tantawi said that Egypt is changing towards the better, and described the armed forces decision to take over the country during the transitional period as one of the forces\'\' historic role. Cairo\'\'s Criminal Court is currently trialing former President Hosni Mubarak, his sons, former Minister of Interior Habib el Adly and six of his assistants on charges of killing peaceful protestors in the January 25th revolution. The court asked to hear the testimony of Field Marshall regarding the charges against Mubarak.
